POSITION SUMMARY

The PLC Technician is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical/electrical equipment such as PLC's, Servo Systems, motors, conveyor systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and production machines. This role reviews the issues on the production lines, implement improvements and works directly with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to make these necessary improvements. This position will also take an active role in troubleshooting line related programming issues.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • The PLC Technician will optimize and program control systems for equipment on the production floor. This role will learn, apply and contribute to the further development of H&T's innovative controls program architecture on components such as logic controllers, machine interfaces, servo drives, and industrial robots used in our production processes
  • Develop and debug ladder logic PLC code, STL Structured Text and SLC scripted text with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable.
  • Interface with conveyors, robots, Manufacturing System (MES), etc.
  • Generate aesthetically simple HMI screens for complex machinery while providing sufficient feedback for troubleshooting.
  • Manage and implement small machine projects from start to finish.
  • Support production equipment through resolution of breakdown events. This includes maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and visual inspection camera systems in addition to maintenance of the PLC's and HMI's

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in analog and digital circuits, control systems, logic, and programming a plus
  • Exposure to programming microcontrollers, familiarity with mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Prior experience with PLC programming
  • Proficiency with MS software suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
  • Understanding of NEC electrical standard code, and OSHA standard.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards and procedures. This individual will be the example of the safety standard.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong propensity to build, assemble, fix and program automated equipment
  • Programming experience with Siemens (H&T has some Allen Bradley)Industrial electrical panel design experience
  • HMI/SCADA programming (Siemens strongly preferred)
  • Industrial robots (Fanuc strongly preferred)
  • Servo motors or controllers (Siemens strongly preferred)
  • Project management skills preferred
  • Basic machining, fabrication and welding skills preferredAuto cad and 3d printing preferred
  • Experience with automated washing process preferred.
  • Experience with Keyence camera systems preferred
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Team player, dedicated to overall company performance and the ability to get along with others
  • Self-Motivated with enthusiasm and drive; able to work independently as needed
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Ability to work various shifts if needed, to support a 24/7 operation
  • Reliable attendance on-site required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to walk, stand for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, push/pull and handle objects
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to handle or feel
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work from heights
  • Must be able to wear PPE for electrical safety, respiratory protection, and fall protection
  • Must be able to walk between sites 4 times a shift (4+ miles per day)
  • Ability to reach to use tools and required equipment
