Job description

Summary

Responsible for leading and performing the installation, modification, and commissioning of fire alarm and life safety systems while supervising a crew of installers; ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and approved plans; serves as the primary on-site point of contact and is accountable for job quality, productivity, and crew performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead the installation of fire alarm systems including addressable and conventional panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, power supplies, and wiring.
  • Read, interpret, and execute work based on approved drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Perform device mounting, wire pulling, terminations, labeling, and system programming support (as applicable).
  • Conduct system testing, pre-testing, and commissioning activities prior to AHJ inspections.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, verify device operation, and correct deficiencies.
  • Supervise and direct installers on job sites.
  • Assign daily tasks and ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Train and mentor less experienced technicians in proper installation methods and code compliance. Complete daily reports, time tracking, and material usage documentation.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma and 4–7 years of fire alarm installation fire alarm installation experience, with prior lead or supervisory experience preferred; strong working knowledge of fire alarm systems, components, and installation practices; ability to read blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics. NICET or other fire alarm certifications preferred; experience with addressable systems (e.g., Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, Siemens, Honeywell, Bosch). 

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office applications, Word & Excel.

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces; ability to work at heights and on active construction sites; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; field-based role at commercial, industrial, and residential job sites, exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and construction environments; overtime or travel between job sites required.
