Position Information
Position Title Adult Basic Education GED/HSD Instructor (Multiple Positions) Campus Elizabeth Department Center for Economic & Workforce Development Full-time, Part-time, Adjunct Part Time Exempt or Non-Exempt Non-Exempt Regular,Temporary, or Grant Grant General Description
In conjunction with appropriate members of the Center test,
diagnose, organize, schedule and instruct in Adult Basic Skills including GED/ HSD preparation.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
Administers appropriate assessment instruments. Assists in making interpretations and recommendations from diagnostic activities, in consultation with the client.
Prescribes from individual employability plans and contributes to monthly evaluations of progress in program, makes recommendations and/or adaptation for program adjustment.
Contributes to curriculum development through design of modular learning packets attuned to learning level objectives.
Provides basic skills and GED/HSD instruction appropriate to individual and group's needs.
Participates in the general activities of the instructional unit, including personal development, program planning, and center-related events.
Travel to all campuses and satellite locations as needed.
Accepts all other assignments which help CEWD realize contractual goals.
Respond to all program requests.

At all times exercise professionalism and confidentiality with staff and students.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree preferred.
NJ Teachers Certification preferred
Experience
Relevant instructional experience or equivalent.
Prior experience with underserved population.
Competencies and Skills Required

Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
Ability to work with persons of varied education, experience, social and economic backgrounds.
Ability to remain discreet with student and staff information.
Commitment to service and a diverse student population.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability and willingness to travel to other campuses, CEWD satellites and/or other satellites assigned as needed.
Flexibility of schedule.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Some travel required.

Terms of Employment
Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours may be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
Multiple assignments available, day and evening opportunities.
Grant Positions:
Position will be terminated upon expiration of grant funding. Part-time, up to twenty (20) hours per week and nine hundred ninety (990) hours during the calendar year. Employment is renewable on or after July 1st of each year at the discretion of CEWD Administration.
