Role Description The Peripheral Cath Lab Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in San Antonio, TX. This role supports physicians and clinical staff during peripheral vascular procedures by preparing the cath lab, setting up equipment, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available and functioning correctly. Day-to-day responsibilities include inventory management, operating imaging equipment, assisting with patient positioning, monitoring patient status during procedures under clinical supervision, and adhering to sterile techniques. The technician is responsible for accurate documentation of procedures, proper image labeling, and maintaining radiation safety standards. Additional tasks include equipment troubleshooting, coordinating with nursing and cardiology teams, and contributing to quality assurance activities to support a safe and efficient lab environment.

Qualifications

  • Credentialing and regulatory skills: Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification or RCIS or eligibility, with adherence to all applicable regulatory and safety standards.
  • Clinical domain knowledge: Strong understanding of peripheral vascular anatomy, hemodynamics, and common cath lab procedures.
  • Cath lab practice skills: Experience working in a Cath Lab or Cardiac Cath environment, including familiarity with procedural workflows, sterile techniques, and emergency protocols.
  • Imaging and technical skills: Proficiency in Radiology imaging equipment operation, radiation safety, image acquisition, and basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Additional qualifications: Completion of an accredited radiologic technology or cardiovascular technology program; prior experience in peripheral vascular or interventional radiology settings preferred.
  • Professional competencies: Strong attention to detail, ability to follow clinical instructions precisely, effective communication with multidisciplinary teams, and commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Physical and situational readiness: Ability to stand for extended periods, assist with patient transfers, and work flexible hours that may include early starts or occasional extended shifts depending on procedural schedules.
