Job description

The Fantasy Football Researcher helps to drive the development and distribution of fantasy research throughout NFL Media platforms, ensuring editorial consistency and factual accuracy.  

Responsibilities

  • Drives the research and dissemination of fantasy football research throughout NFL Media, including within NFL.com articles, podcasts, FAST shows, and NFL Pro within NFL+ Premium
  • Contributes to daily content distribution plan that pushes targeted research materials to content creators throughout the Media Group
  • Develops original storylines, notes, nuggets and "boards" that provide statistical context around fantasy football topics, matchups and news
  • Recognizes and anticipates league and team trends, applying appropriate statistics to create content
  • Ensures factual accuracy of all content generated
  • Works within our standards for high quality research content while maintaining tireless work ethic on a consistent basis
  • Works closely with producers, editors, digital team, talent and writers
  • Utilizes broad football knowledge and awareness of the NFL Media Group's platform to anticipate the research needs
  • Collaborate with research team on best practices regarding both dedicated show research and general research support
  • Recommends changes to enhance current research methods and standards
  • Must be able to adhere to strict deadlines and react to breaking news
  • Strong writing and editing skills are required
  • Strong attention to detail skills are required
  • Must be able to communicate information accurately

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years professional experience working within the fantasy football content space, statistics or covering sports events and news
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Must have strong foundation of knowledge about football statistics and fantasy football scoring systems and league types
  • Must be technologically savvy, with strong command of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Must have strong familiarity with digital and social platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in sports media
  • Previous work experience working for or covering fantasy football
  • Experience generating your own fantasy football content
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and on deadline
  • Knowledge of football research databases/resources a plus (i.e. Pro Football Reference, Next Gen Stats, Rotoworld and/or nfl.com)
  • Thorough knowledge of football media landscape, including emerging platforms and competing properties
  • Detailed knowledge of television production processes, including awareness of key editorial roles

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • 40 hours / week
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays (specifically Sundays in-season)
  • Up to 7-month seasonal employment
