Job Objective:

Performs the duties of a procedural assistant; prepares supplies for the case and sets up and maintains the procedure table and endoscopy cart. Assists physicians with all endoscopic procedures and is responsible for the care, cleaning and maintenance of the endoscopy equipment.

Job Description:

Education:Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree if hired after March 1, 2025Preferred: Completion of Advanced EUS/ERCP Training, the SGNA Associates Program and Advance Program ModulesLicensure/Certification:Required: American Heart Association BLSExperience:Required: One (1) year of healthcare experiencePreferred: Endoscopy Technician experienceReports To: Manager or DirectorSupervises: N/A Ages of Patients: Adult, GeriatricBlood Borne Pathogens: High Potential

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations, Ability to operate general office equipment (i.e., computer, printer, scanner, telephone, etc.), Knowledge of general GI (Colonoscopy, EGD, EUS, DRCP, Enterescopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy, Single Balloon, Endo Stitch, Bravo, Halo, Clips) Procedures, ERCP, EUS, Reprocessing scopes and departmental equipment, Knowledge of the endoscopy environment regarding traffic patterns and integrity of the procedure table, Knowledge of theory and safety when using cautery modalities including monopolar, bipolar and argon plasma coagulation and their various probes

Essential Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.2. Reviews procedures and procures appropriate supplies prior to start of case; remains attentive to the progression of the procedure in order to anticipate physician's needs.3. Supports patient education by explaining your role to patient(s).4. Maintains aseptic technique according to the policies and procedures of Surgical Services.5. Maintains orderly procedure table(s) and endoscopy procedural travel cart.6. Identifies surgical specimen and transfers to the nurse.7. Prepares endoscopic instruments for cleaning and resterilization per policy and manufacturers IFU.8. Maintains current reprocessing equipment to include diagnostic run, chemical and biological monitoring; maintains records as required.9. Assists with putting away supplies from deliveries.10. Participates in efficient room turnover from patients/procedures.11. Contributes to maximum efficiency of the endoscopy schedule in order to adhere to endoscopy start times.12. Assists with cost effectiveness by using judgement when opening and using supplies.13. Keeps current with new endoscopic techniques and equipment through participation in unit based and continuing education.14. Enters patient information into computer database (ProVation, Reprocessing Machines).15. May be scheduled "on-call" for any emergent cases, evenings, week-ends and/or holidays as required by department.16. Accepts responsibilities only within scope of practice; participates in the Universal Protocol (Time/Out).17. Performs others duties as assigned.
