Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a GI/Endoscopy position requiring 3 years of ENDO experience and pediatric, bronchoscopy, and Cerner experience within the last 2 years.

Details
  • Work in the Endoscopy unit of a short-term acute care hospital with 153 staffed beds
  • Unit performs Upper & Lower GI procedures, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, and Pain Management
  • High volume of both pediatric (0 months-18 years) and adult patients, with pediatric cases scheduled Monday through Thursday
  • 1:1 patient ratio for pre/post and intraprocedural care
  • Day shift schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, 6:30 AM-5:00 PM
  • Block schedule available for 4 consecutive days (Mon-Fri or Mon-Wed and Fri)
  • On-call required: one Mon-Thu shift (5:00 PM-5:30 AM) per week and one weekend shift (Fri 5:00 PM-Mon 5:30 AM) every 6 weeks
  • No weekend shift requirement outside of on-call rotation
  • Float to PACU required as needed to meet facility needs
  • Cerner charting system required
  • Provation experience preferred
Requirements
  • Active IN or Compact RN license required and must be in hand prior to start (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Minimum 3 years of ENDO experience required
  • Pediatric, Bronchoscopy, and Cerner experience required within the last 2 years
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Provation experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skills required: administering and monitoring conscious sedation, specimen handling/labeling
  • Experience with equipment including balloon dilators, bronchoscopy cart, electrosurgical units, ERBE, forceps, foreign body equipment, and polyp snares
  • Procedure experience required: Bronchoscopy, Colonoscopy, EGD, with EBUS, EUS, and ERCP preferred
  • Ability to obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG, start and maintain IVs, and administer medications including opioid analgesics
  • Ability to recover patients from conscious sedation and monitored anesthesia care sedation
  • RN university must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide pre-procedure, intraprocedural, and post-procedure nursing care in a fast-paced endoscopy setting
  • Tuesdays are typically lighter volume days
  • Scrubs provided by facility
  • Free parking available
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Indiana residents are not accepted for this position
  • All travelers are required to float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
  • Any current or former IU Health perm/PRN employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
