POSITION: Adjunct Faculty - Computer Science Instructor
COLLEGE/DEPARTMENT: HollandSchool of Science and Mathematics / Computer Science
SUPERVISOR TITLE: Dean, Holland School of Sciences and Mathematics; Professor
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EXEMPTION: Teacher Exemption
LOCATION: HSU Campus, Abilene, TX (Possible Online Options Available)
TARGET HIRE DATE: Fall 2024

EMPLOYMENT - Candidate must profess a Christian Faith, maintain membership in a local congregation, and respect the values and distinctives central to the historically Baptist values of HSU as reflected in the University's Statement of Faith.

SUMMARY/SCOPE: We are looking for a part-time, adjunct faculty to teach Computer Science courses. The Computer Science department is in the Holland School of Sciences and Mathematics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adjunct instructor for computer science courses that include topics suchas Java programming, data structures, assembly language, web programming (frontand back end), networking, and cybersecurity.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
At least a Masters degree with 18 graduate hours in Computer Science,Cybersecurity, or similar discipline.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
None are required for this position at this time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Thejob is sedentary in nature. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods oftime while performing office and computer operations.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Thisposition is a part-time/temp adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week)with teaching load at the Hardin-Simmons University campus.
Mustbe a resident of the state of Texas.
