Job description

Graham Technologies is seeking a Backend Tester to support the testing and validation of backend data changes across ETL workflows, databases, and APIs. The successful candidate will ensure that data-related changes meet business requirements, maintain data integrity, and perform as expected across integrated systems. This role requires close collaboration with developers, data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to design and execute effective test strategies, identify issues, and support resolution efforts. A strong understanding of backend systems, data movement, and regression testing is essential.

Location: Remote (Preference for Dayton, OH or Washington, DC Metro Area)

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with technical teams to analyze system and data requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test cases for backend data changes, including ETL workflows, database updates, and API integrations.
  • Validate data transformation logic, schema changes, data movement, and interface behavior across source and target systems.
  • Design testing approaches to ensure adequate coverage of backend functionality and regression impacts.
  • Identify, document, track, and support resolution of defects, data inconsistencies, and integration issues.
  • Create and maintain test data, test evidence, and supporting test documentation.
  • Work closely with developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to validate requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Verify data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and traceability across integrated systems.
  • Support testing efforts for new functionality, enhancements, and production fixes within an Agile environment.
  • Participate in solution reviews and discussions to improve quality, testability, and overall delivery outcomes.
  • Analyze operational and system workflows to identify testing priorities and risk areas.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies, documentation standards, and quality processes.
Required Qualifications:Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software testing, quality assurance, or backend testing.
  • Proven experience testing ETL processes, database changes, and API integrations.
  • Experience supporting Agile software development teams.
  • Experience with defect management and test lifecycle processes.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
