Project Manager - Electronic Health Record (EHR) Initiatives
The Project Manager is responsible for leading complex projects that support UCLA Health's electronic health record (EHR) ecosystem and related technology infrastructure. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and with a strong focus on stakeholder satisfaction and organizational goals.
As a key leader in the deployment of strategic EHR initiatives, the Project Manager will oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and successful implementation. The incumbent will develop and maintain essential project management deliverables, including project charters, detailed work plans, schedules, budgets, scope documents, risk assessments, and executive status reports.
The ideal candidate brings proven experience managing large-scale healthcare technology projects and can effectively collaborate with technical engineers, IT leadership, application analysts, vendors, operational stakeholders, and executive leadership. Success in this role requires strong communication, organizational, and relationship-management skills, along with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business solutions that drive measurable results across UCLA Health.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage strategic EHR and healthcare technology projects from initiation through implementation.
  • Deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate project plans, timelines, budgets, risks, and status updates.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including technical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Foster strong partnerships with business leaders, clinical stakeholders, vendors, and technology teams.
  • Ensure project deliverables support UCLA Health's commitment to operational excellence and exceptional patient care.

This is a flex-hybrid role requiring you to be on-site within 48 hours of notification.
Job Qualifications

• A Bachelors degree or equivalent experience that includes creating business requirements, project plans, project schedules and associated project materials
• 5+ years minimum experience in project management including technology, infrastructure, and applications
• Experience with supporting Electronic Medical Record (EMR) / Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementations (EPIC) from the application and infrastructure side, as well as ancillary applications and devices.
• Expert understanding of project management and project management tools
• Expert understanding of software development and infrastructure project lifecycles
• Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize work, multi-task across many assignments and delegate
• Technical writing skills producing clear and unambiguous deliverables
• Expert usage of MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio)
• Excellent communication skills as related to project management strategy, schedules, tasks, deliverables, risks, and issues.
• PMP required
