Job Description:

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sales and Use Tax Compliance Associate to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience preparing and filing sales and use tax returns and will play a key role in supporting multistate indirect tax compliance for a diverse client base.

This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, annual, and other periodic sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Process electronic tax filings and payments while ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Reconcile sales and use tax data to supporting documentation and identify discrepancies for resolution.
  • Complete business tax registrations with state and local taxing authorities.
  • Prepare and process Power of Attorney (POA) forms and other required tax authorization documents.
  • Maintain accurate client compliance calendars and monitor filing deadlines.
  • Utilize ONESOURCE Indirect Tax software to prepare returns, manage compliance workflows, and process filings.
  • Communicate with taxing authorities regarding account maintenance, notices, registrations, and filing issues.
  • Assist with resolving compliance notices and routine client inquiries.
  • Maintain organized electronic workpapers and client documentation.
  • Collaborate with tax professionals and engagement teams to ensure high-quality client service.
  • Stay current on changes to state and local sales and use tax filing requirements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of experience preparing and filing sales and use tax returns.
  • Experience managing multistate sales and use tax compliance preferred.
  • Experience using Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Indirect Tax software preferred.
  • Knowledge of sales and use tax registration processes and filing requirements.
  • Experience preparing Power of Attorney forms and business tax registrations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and consistently meet filing deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
  • Familiarity with electronic filing systems across multiple states.
  • Experience responding to state tax notices and maintaining client tax accounts.
