Introduction
Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI), located near Oshkosh Wisconsin, is hiring a part-time Security Officer 4 position. This position will be scheduled approximately 24 hours a week (0.6 FTE). The incumbent needs to be available to work all days of the week, holidays, and additional hours depending on the needs of the facility.

Position Summary
As a Security Officer 4, you will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Performing security and patrol functions.
  • Performing investigative duties.
  • Enforcing laws, codes, and statutes.
  • Performing miscellaneous security and program tasks.

Salary Information
The starting pay is $21.42 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 05/11.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB screen , which will be administered by WMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
This position requires manual labor i.e. reaching overhead and across body; being able to stand or sit for extended periods of time; ability to run, walk, kneel, climb a step ladder; and be able to carry up to 35 pounds. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.
**This position requires the ability to drive a State vehicle. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements for the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle policy, which are:
  • Must have a valid driver's license;
  • Must have minimum of two years non-probationary licensed driving experience with a regular (Class D) driver's license ;
  • Must be 18 years of age.
Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:
  • Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years;
  • Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months;
  • Suspension or revocation of driver's license.

Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
  • **Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.
  • Experience providing customer service (e.g. answering questions, referring individuals to appropriate resources, etc.).
  • Experience performing security and patrol of buildings or grounds.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
  • Experience making rule or policy-based decisions in fast paced or high stress environments.
  • Experience working with individuals with physically and mentally challenged behaviors.
  • Experience working with a psychiatric patient population in a long-term care setting.
