JOB SUMMARY:
This is an entry-level position with Nordic Calista rigs. This position requires physical strength, dexterity, and stamina to successfully complete the duties, which include proper loading and unloading materials, general maintenance, and provide vital support for the drilling floor crew. Must be able to get along well with others and respond quickly to directions. Must follow company rules established for safety and employee welfare.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • General upkeep of drilling rig and camp.
  • Rolls and cleans pipe casing and drill pipe.
  • Assists mechanics, electricians, welders, forklift drivers and derrickhands.
  • Relieves floorhands on the floor when required.
  • Assists in preparing the drilling rig and camp for relocation, preparing the rig and camp to become operational.
  • Assists in fueling of camp and rig / under supervision of motorman.
  • Works at heights up to 175 feet above ground.
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Conducts his job duties in compliance with Nordic HSE policies.
  • Works toward achieving Nordic's annual HSE goals.
  • Assists Rig Management in identifying operational non-conformances at the rigsite.
  • Reports any spills on pad to the Driller immediately- including oil, water, glycol, drilling mud, dry mud products, etc.
  • Reports any property or environmental damage by third-party vendors to the Driller immediately.
  • Encourages coworkers to report any unsafe work conditions or practices and any environmental non-compliances immediately to supervisors.
  • Assists in completing daily spill champion activities log.
  • Assists in any internal audits as necessary.
  • Assists Driller in daily rig site duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous related experience preferred; on-the-job training provided
  • Obtain a North Slope Training Cooperative card prior to working on the slope.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic calculations.
