What is a flex officer?

Flex Officers are security professionals who provide flexible coverage for various sites as needed by a security company. They are often deployed to fill in for absent security officers, cover special events, or assist during emergencies. Flex Officers must be adaptable, able to quickly learn new post orders, and ready to travel to different locations. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to handle a wide range of security assignments on short notice.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a flex officer?

To thrive as a Flex Officer, you need a solid understanding of security procedures, situational awareness, and often a security guard license or certification. Familiarity with surveillance systems, incident reporting software, and access control tools is typically required. These competencies are vital for effectively responding to varied assignments, ensuring safety, and maintaining a secure environment.
