Next Generation Sequencing Laboratory Manager

GeneDx is recruiting for a full-time Next Generation Sequencing Laboratory
Manager.
Manages the
administration of the daily operations of the NextGen Sequencing Lab that
conducts the testing of clinical DNA specimens for the purpose of diagnostic
genetic disease, using manual and automated methods in a team environment, and following established policies and procedures, in a professional manner.
Responsibilities
  1. Manages
    a group of testing personnel following established standard operating
    procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting of
    results to team leads, supervisors, and record-keeping.
  2. Ensures
    that all group members adhere to quality control policies and documents all
    quality control activities, instruments and procedural calibrations, reagent
    preparation and testing, and instrument maintenance performed.
  3. Identifies
    problems that may adversely affect test performance, takes authorized
    corrective action, and notifies key individuals.
  4. Oversees
    implementation of new protocols and QA/QC criteria and detects when test
    performance is not within acceptable levels.
    Documents all corrective action.
  5. Maintains
    efficient lab operations and improves lab workflow and also contributes to
    reviewing and updating technical SOPs
  6. Always
    be able to document that proficiency testing is performed in the same manner as
    patient testing.
  7. Meets
    or exceeds target workload with high accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology,
or related life science, and meets CLIA and New York State personnel standards
criteria, plus 5 years relevant work experience in molecular technology or
comparable skills and knowledge; or, Master of Science degree in a related
field, plus 2-3 years relevant experience; or, credentialed as a Molecular
Genetics technologist.
