Job description

The Line Operator will be involved in many aspects of the operations which encompass various descriptions and departments as directed by management. The functions vary slightly based on line and location of assigned station.

Responsibilities

  • Handling Raw Material
    • Verify the item being used with a production lead or production supervisor before loading cap hoppers, label reels, cone cartridges, fliers, boxes and inserts.
  • Removal of raw material stuck in machinery by pulling, pushing, twisting and lifting or sweeping.
  • Constantly troubleshoot, start and stop machines to make minor corrections and adjustments to components such as sensors, pressure rollers/plates.
  • Manually building cases and feed them to the line.
  • Tape boxes together with the provided tools such as a tape gun.
  • Stacking pallets with finished good cases by hand following proper pattern.
    • Ensure that the case quality of the case meets and/or exceeds company standards.
  • Working in hot or cold environments which are sometimes wet and without a fan.
  • Maintain proper documentation control and quality.
  • Maintain proper records of material used and counts of material not used where applicable.  
  • Maintain proper counts and records of waste and damages throughout the day.
  • Maintain a proper sense of urgency and prioritize the line over any other duties that can be suspended temporarily.
  • Turn in completed documentation to the correct QA document deposit box.
  • Maintain open communication with production leads and maintenance regarding machine performance.
  • Wear designated PPE when on the production floor.
  • Handle Broken glass with the designated level 4 cut resistant glove PPE issued.
  • Cut bands and shrink wrap off of raw material pallets with issued safety blade.
  • Work with a team to get the job done as efficiently as possible.
  • Ability to learn from your co-workers and take constructive criticism as a means to get better.
  • Keep cellphone, handheld or communication devices out of the production floor.
  • Follow all safety guidelines as explained by the handbook and your supervisor.
  • Follow and maintain the dress code policy at all times.
  • Follow and maintain the SQF guidelines.
  • Maintain your area and the facility clean, by sweeping, moping, wiping, washing, brushing, dusting, and sanitizing as directed by your Lead and/or supervisor.
  • Fulfill any other duties assigned to you by your lead or supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Able to stand on feet for long periods
  • Able to lift more than 50 pounds, occasionally for up to eight hours
  • Strong morals and work ethic  
  • Able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as directed by company needs
  • A strong focus on safety, sense of urgency, and swift response is a must
