Job description

A warm, busy family in Brooklyn is seeking a talented Private Family Chef to prepare fresh, healthy, family-style dinners during the week. The ideal candidate is organized, flexible, and enjoys cooking food that tastes great while supporting healthy habits for children. This role will be especially well-suited to a chef who is comfortable working around kids and can help make mealtimes enjoyable and approachable.

 Family & Home:

  • Family of five: two adults and three children (ages 13, 10, and 7 )
  • One dog in the home
  • The household has a cleaning service three times per week but the chef would be responsible for kitchen cleanliness following food preparation.
  • Existing long-term nanny who also serves as house manager and cleans the kitchen each morning

Schedule:  Monday–Friday (tentative), approximately  12:45 – 7:45pm  (final hours to be  confirmed; dinner is typically around 6:45/7pm)
Start Date:  Ideally within the next  30 days  (flexible)

  • Prepare fresh dinners Monday–Friday (family-style  service preferred)
  • Stock refrigerator with breakfast and lunch options that can be reheated or just served by the family themselves.
  • Grocery shopping and managing grocery orders (delivery  is acceptable)
  • Pantry and refrigerator organization/stocking
  • Accommodate family preferences, including no shellfish/no pork, and a focus on healthy options for children (the 13-year-old is mostly pescatarian, the other children like meat)
  • Keep the kitchen clean and organized; complete post-cooking cleanup
  • Optional: support for occasional dinner parties  (e.g., 12–15 guests), with advance  notice (this is not a priority)

  • Prior experience as a private chef or strong family-style culinary background
  • Casual and friendly demeanor
  • Confidently preparing kid-friendly, healthy meals
  • Professional, discreet, and respectful of privacy
  • Organized with strong kitchen systems and clean work habits
  • This family is seeking fresh, in-home cooking (not drop-off meal delivery). They would love a chef who can reliably manage weeknight dinners, keep ingredients rotating, and ensure food is enjoyable and fresh.
