Overview
We are seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst - Crypto Modernization to support the Office of the Deputy CIO for Cybersecurity (DCIO-CS) in advancing Department-wide cryptographic modernization initiatives, key management programs, and future cryptographic transition efforts. This role supports the Department's Digital Modernization Strategy by providing technical research, policy analysis, systems engineering support, risk assessments, stakeholder coordination, and implementation planning to strengthen cryptographic capabilities across enterprise systems, networks, platforms, and weapon systems.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in cybersecurity, cryptography, systems engineering, or information assurance within DoD, Federal Government, Intelligence Community, or National Security environments. The candidate should be comfortable supporting senior leadership through technical analysis, policy development, modernization planning, and executive-level communications.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and analysis supporting cryptographic modernization and enterprise key management initiatives.
  • Evaluate existing cryptographic policies, procedures, and technical architectures to support modernization objectives.
  • Assess Department readiness and transition strategies for Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) adoption.
  • Analyze impacts of National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), OMB guidance, NIST publications, and Federal cybersecurity directives.
  • Develop executive briefings, technical reports, decision papers, white papers, and implementation recommendations.
  • Support development of cryptographic modernization roadmaps, implementation plans, and governance frameworks.
  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments related to cryptographic technologies, key management infrastructure, and modernization efforts.
  • Coordinate with DoD organizations, technical stakeholders, mission partners, and leadership across the Department.
  • Provide systems engineering and cybersecurity architecture support related to cryptographic capabilities and modernization initiatives.
  • Prepare monthly status reports, technical summaries, research findings, and leadership updates.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to Government leadership and stakeholder

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting cybersecurity, cryptography, information assurance, or systems engineering initiatives.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government, Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or National Security programs.
  • Experience developing technical analyses, cybersecurity documentation, policy recommendations, or executive-level deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to senior leadership.

Technical Knowledge, Preferred Qualifications, Skills & Technologies
  • Strong knowledge of cryptographic principles, algorithms, and technologies; Public Key Infrastructure (PKI); Key Management Infrastructure (KMI/KME); Communications Security (COMSEC); Risk Management Framework (RMF); NIST cybersecurity standards; cybersecurity architecture; systems engineering; cloud security; Zero Trust; cybersecurity policy and governance; cryptographic modernization; transition planning; and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). Experience supporting DoD cryptographic modernization, COMSEC, PKI, KMI, cybersecurity governance, policy development, enterprise modernization initiatives, and DoD Digital Modernization Strategy objectives. Ability to conduct risk assessments, technical research and analysis, strategic roadmap development, stakeholder coordination, and executive-level briefings for senior government leadership. Proficiency with PKI platforms, KMI/KME solutions, RMF documentation tools, Microsoft Office Suite, enterprise architecture and systems engineering tools, NIST frameworks, and DoD cybersecurity governance platforms.
