Leidos is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support a government contract in the National Capital Region (NCR). The ideal candidate will have experience assembling multi-part systems with knowledge of mechanical design for manufacturing, machining, and adhesives/paint application. Candidate must display strong organization and communication skills to accomplish expected tasks.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the design and development of engineering solutions in support of unique and complex customer requirements.
  • Work as part of a team to assemble and produce multi-part systems at quantity to support project tasks and objectives
  • Manage inventory of components required for production tasks
  • Create, document, and communicate assembly processes and procedures.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Must have an active TS/SCI w/polygraph to be considered.
  • Must have a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Material Science, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent and at least 12 years of relevant experience OR a Master's and at least 10 years of experience. Additional work experience can be used in lieu of degree/combined with education.
  • Demonstrated experience producing full system assemblies or subassemblies
  • Demonstrated CAD experience, SolidWorks preferred
  • Demonstrated CAM experience and ability to operate CNC machines
  • Demonstrated ability working with 3D printing applications
  • Demonstrated ability applying adhesives and painting components
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and as an individual contributor
  • Demonstrated strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt quickly to changing requirements
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office applications

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated proficiency with FeatureCAM and Mastercam
  • Demonstrated knowledge of metal finishing processes to include anodizing, painting, and powder coating
  • Demonstrated knowledge of injection molding techniques
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
