The engineer serves as a key technical resource, working closely with manufacturing, quality, front-end engineering, sales, suppliers, and customers to ensure PCB products are innovative, manufacturable, reliable, and aligned with customer requirements.
This position requires deep knowledge of PCB materials, construction, fabrication processes, and design-for-manufacturability principles, as well as strong analytical, project management, and cross-functional communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support development of advanced PCBs from concept through prototype, qualification, and production
  • Collaborate internally & externally to translate technical requirements into manufacturable PCB solutions
  • Support development of rigid, flex, rigid-flex, HDI, high-speed, RF, and other advanced PCB technologies
  • Evaluate and qualify new PCB materials, including laminates, copper foils, surface finishes, & soldermask systems
  • Analyze product and process performance data to drive design, material, and process optimization
  • Participate in design reviews, feasibility reviews, risk assessments, and new product introduction activities
  • Develop and evaluate new processes to support advanced technology requirements
  • Investigate and resolve customer-reported product issues
  • Partner with process engineering, operations, and quality to implement controls improvements that improve yield
  • Partner with FEE to evaluate process flow feasibility, stack-up, and interpretation of customer requirements.
  • Review customer designs for manufacturability considerations such as trace/space, aspect ratio, drill design, layer registration, impedance requirements, and material selection.
  • Provide technical input for quotation review related to product complexity, special materials, controlled impedance, sequential lamination, via structures, tolerances, and process risk.
  • Support estimation of technical feasibility, manufacturing complexity, and special processing requirements.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience in PCB manufacturing, process engineering, product engineering, or advanced technology development
  • Strong knowledge of PCB fabrication materials, processes, and construction methods
  • Experience with new product development, process qualification, and manufacturing support
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate technical issues and perform structured root cause analysis
  • Strong data analysis, experimental design, and technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret customer drawings, specifications, fabrication requirements, and technical standards
