Compensation:ย ย ย 

  • A Tech $40.00 - $50.00 /ย hourย 
  • B Tech $33.00 - $43.00 /ย hourย 
  • C Tech $25.00 - $35.00 /ย hourย

Responsibilities:ย 

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on motorcoaches, cutaway shuttles, light-duty vehicles, electric vehicles, and other fleet equipment.ย 
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, HVAC, electrical, fuel, and drivetrain components to ensure vehiclesย operateย safely and reliably.ย 
  • Review driver defect reports, preventative maintenance schedules, and repair priorities to proactively address fleet concerns, minimize road calls, and maximize vehicle availability.ย 
  • Maintainย accurateย maintenance records, labor hours, repair documentation, parts inventory, and fleet maintenance files.ย 
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic software, specialized tools, and repair manuals to troubleshoot vehicle systems andย determineย effective repair solutions.ย 
  • Perform road tests, quality inspections, and field service calls as needed to verify repairs and respond to vehicle breakdowns or emergency situations.ย 
  • Support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of onboard vehicle technology, including telematics, Wi-Fi equipment, tablets, cameras, and other fleet systems.ย 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following TransWest safety policies and regulatory requirements.ย 
  • Collaborate withย Fleetย leadership,ย fellowย techniciansย and Operationsย toย ensure fleet reliability, safety, and operational excellence.ย 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.ย 

Requirements:ย 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.ย 
  • High school diploma or GEDย required.ย 
  • Professional experienceย maintainingย and repairing vehicles, or successful completion of a vocational automotive or heavy-duty diesel program,ย associate'sย degree inย automotive technology, Heavy Duty Diesel, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.ย 
  • Placement within the Technician career path is based on experience, technical knowledge, and demonstrated competencies:ย 
  • Technician A Tech:ย 5+ years of professional experience.ย 
  • Technician B Tech:ย 3+ years of professional experience.ย 
  • Technician C Tech:ย 2+ years of professional experience or completion of an accredited automotive or diesel technician program.ย 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, andย maintainingย electrical, brake, powertrain, steering, suspension, and HVAC systems.ย 
  • Experience working on transit buses, motorcoaches, commercial vehicles, or fleet equipment is strongly preferred.ย 
  • Proficiencyย using vehicle diagnostic software and OEMย diagnosticย tools,ย likeย Cummins INSITE, Cumminsย QuickServe, ALLDATA, WABCO, Allison DOC, Bendix ACom, and Ford IDS.ย 
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.ย 
  • Ability to obtain andย maintainย a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC). TransWest will cover the cost of certification for qualified candidates.ย 
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen.ย 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.ย 
  • Ability toย workย a flexible schedule to support operational needs, including occasional work outside of regularly scheduled hours.ย 
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions andย performย the physical requirements of the position.ย 

Preferred Qualifications:ย 

  • EPA Section 609 HVAC Certification.ย 
  • Advanced automotive or heavy-duty diesel training.ย 
  • ASE certifications relevant to automotive or heavy-duty diesel repair.ย 
  • OEM certifications (Cummins, Allison, Ford, or equivalent).ย 
  • Experience working on electric vehicles.ย 
  • CDL Class A or B with Passenger endorsement.ย
