Job Description:
The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the overall maintenance of the River City Produce commercial vehicles, including various types of delivery trucks and company-owned vehicles. The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for repairs, inspects, and maintains services for the company fleet. In this career, your responsibilities include diagnosing automotive problems, determining their best solutions, and making any necessary repairs to ensure the fleet is running well.
Schedule:
The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic will have an early morning start time. This position requires a start time as early as 3am. This position will provide a minimum of 40 hours, plus any additional overtime per state and federal laws. This position also includes 'on-call' responsibility after office hours on evenings and weekends for any and all maintenance emergencies and will be expected to provide fleet maintenance for the transportation dept.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Works with the mechanical staff on routine preventative maintenance and repairs on all River City fleet vehicles.
  • Assists mechanics on routine, preventative maintenance on all warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, refrigerant blowers, RCP 'reader board' sign, etc.).
  • Assists management and works with the accounting dept. on tracking purchased parts, routine maintenance on company vehicles, and invoices/documentation related to fleet maintenance repairs (including preventative maintenance).
  • Assists Facility Maintenance Technicians with tasks including changing all air conditioning filters and light bulbs within the River City offices, warehouse and annex and Chicho Boy's properties.
  • Assists with troubleshooting general building maintenance problems as they arise
  • Assists the Shop Foreman and Transportation Manager with repairs as needed.
  • Perform other related tasks, as requested by the facility and fleet manager and/or business owners.

Physical Requirements:
  • May sit from 1-3 hours daily in order to perform job duties.
  • May stand from 5-8 hours daily in order to perform job duties.
  • Must be able to lift/carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to stoop, squat, bend and/or twist to perform various job functions.
  • Must be able to reach overhead, forward, back and down to perform various job functions.
  • Must be able to have corrected vision to
    • Be aware of surroundings and location of resources and tools needed;
    • Read job related documents and perform various job duties.
  • Must be able to read and write English in order to audit driver records and other company related documents.

Environmental conditions:
  • Must be able to work around noise and/or vibration generated by the truck and other equipment
  • Must be able to work around fumes, dust, gases and odors.
  • Must be able to work in cold warehouse environments (33โ€ข - 56โ€ข F) as required by the job.
  • Must be able to work in warm outdoor environment (up to 100โ€ข + F) as required by the job.
  • Must be alert and able to identify a hazard, should one occur, in order to avoid it, by reporting immediately or, if directed, by taking corrective measures.

Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years experience in vehicle mechanics in preventative maintenance areas
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently handle multiple tasks in a busy distribution center environment
  • Ability to prioritize work load using the work order system
  • Ability to read and write English in order to translate work orders and report back to management as to work progress
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to multitask efficiently
  • Professional attitude and team mindset
  • The ability to handle emergencies - to stay calm and make effective decisions quickly
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) highly preferred but not required
