Job description

Overview

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of a company office.

We are currently seeking a highly analytical and detail oriented Financial Analyst I to join our Investment Operations Back Office team. This position’s primary responsibility is to provide daily trade support for First Citizen’s Corporate Treasury and capital markets trading desks. The successful candidate with interact across all levels of the bank within accounting, technology, risk, audit, and trading teams across a multitude of products. 


Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Trade Lifecycle: support the lifecycle of the Bank’s investment and debt funding activities from confirmations to settlements to corporate actions 
  • Business support: oversee all daily trading activity (including fixed income, debt, equity, foreign exchange, and swaps) is correctly confirmed and settled
  • Provide operational support and servicing for the bank’s multibillion client derivative portfolio 
  • Reconciliation: perform daily reconciliations of trade and positions against third parties; proactively handle and resolve any break resolutions. 
  • Build an in-depth understanding of various trading products, securities, and processes from both a financial and operational perspective 
  • Contribute to various strategic initiatives to improve processes, automate workflows, and system conversions for the trading portfolios 
  • Provide support for internal and external audit on workflows and sample testing 

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 1 years of experience in Finance or Analytics OR High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of experience in Finance or Analytics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of investment operations/support experience, preferably in banking, hedge fund, or asset management is a plus 
  • General knowledge of and familiarity with financial instruments (i.e. fixed income, equity, foreign exchange, derivatives, and cryptocurrencies) and it’s life cycle 
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Highly self-motivated with emphasis on organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • The candidate must be personable and able to interact well with portfolio managers, traders, clients, and 3rdparties 
  • Knowledge of Murex, Aladdin, Chatham, Clearwater, Finastra Fusion CMS, MarkitWire, and Bloomberg a plus 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
