Job description

Are you energized by investments, problem-solving, and delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment? Join IMG Service as a Specialist supporting Vanguard's Fixed Income Group (FIG). FIG manages active and index bond funds and oversees Vanguard's money market funds, making this a meaningful opportunity to work close to the investment process in a complex and highly collaborative environment.
In this role, you will help deliver operational excellence through precise execution, strong judgment, proactive partnership, and continuous improvement. You will support assigned products, partner closely with portfolio managers, traders, and key business stakeholders, respond to operational inquiries, steward critical investment and trading data, and help strengthen workflows, controls, and standard work in a fast-moving environment. IMG Service provides 24/6 real-time support, issue resolution, and end-to-end stewardship of investment and trading data used by front-office portfolio management and trading systems.
This role is well suited for someone who can execute BAU work with precision and timeliness, remain composed and resourceful in ambiguous situations, independently resolve problems, and identify opportunities to improve business processes over time. This role also emphasizes proposing and documenting enhancements to current frameworks and standard work, building strong relationships with clients and critical business partners, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen the business offering.
Success in this role requires building foundational understanding of the life cycle of the trade, operational workflows, related technical systems, and operational risk, while continuing to grow business, investment, and technical acumen. Ongoing development in data literacy, analytics tools such as SQL and Python, and visualization platforms such as Power BI and Tableau is highly encouraged.
Core Responsibilities
  • Lead portfolio administration, operational, and trade readiness activities for index rebalances, corporate actions, and market-driven events.
  • Perform advanced analysis and reconciliation of investment and portfolio data inputs, including daily portfolio modeling, reporting activities, and evaluation of positioning to support portfolio oversight and decision-making.
  • Maintain and validate investment, market, and portfolio data across systems, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established controls.
  • Serve as an operational liaison and point of contact for portfolio managers, traders, custodians, and internal partners, providing guidance on non-routine or complex inquiries.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve data exceptions and operational issues; perform root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, process documentation, standard operating procedures, and controls; contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and risk management.
  • Develop dashboards, operational reports, and management information to support business insights and decision-making.
  • Build and maintain working knowledge of investment products, trade lifecycle processes, and operational risk considerations relevant to assigned functions.
  • Support onboarding and administration of new portfolios, products, and market-driven initiatives through requirements gathering, data validation, testing, and implementation support.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the Financial Services industry or related experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex operational scenarios.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with a strong client-service mindset.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, or Tableau is preferred.
