Job description

Dodge & Cox is seeking to hire a Fixed Income Analytics Associate. As a member of the Fixed Income Portfolio Analytics Team ("FIPAT"), the Fixed Income Analytics Associate will partner with our client and investment teams to deliver portfolio strategy insights and ensure we meet existing and prospective client/consultant needs thoughtfully, accurately, and in a timely manner. The successful candidate will be expected to become knowledgeable about each of the firm's fixed income investment strategies and vehicles, as well as data and systems, with unqualified expertise in the firm's external reporting and communications materials, policies, and practices. The candidate will occasionally be expected to manage tight deadlines, a high workload, and extended hours around the quarter-end reporting period in particular.
Primary responsibilities include:
Investment strategy reporting / insights:
  • Analyze portfolio and market data to craft insights for use in external client materials (including market, investment strategy, and performance attribution commentary)
  • Assist on custom investment-related client/consultant requests and projects, coordinating with investment team members as appropriate
  • Serve as a Fixed Income team liaison to the RFP/reporting team on complex RFPs, due diligence questionnaires, and other quantitative and qualitative materials
  • Provide support to portfolio management team for internal meetings and projects (e.g., portfolio attribution, positioning, risk data)
  • Assist with thought leadership and content creation, in collaboration with the Communications team

Lead or contribute to a variety of data & analytical projects to enhance our client service effort:
  • Create and maintain code/macros to streamline production of client exhibits and other reporting content
  • Create dashboards via Tableau to deliver insights used by client and investment teams
  • Contribute to data and reporting automation initiatives, partnering with internal teams
  • Conduct peer and industry trend analysis

Support certain client relationships in partnership with Client Portfolio Managers
  • Assume ownership of account-specific reporting and presentation materials
  • Participate in meetings/calls with clients to gain insights about client objectives and to deliver messaging about the firm and their investment mandate(s)

Qualifications:
Dodge & Cox targets candidates with high levels of academic and professional achievement and leadership ability.
  • Four-year college degree with an excellent academic record
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience and demonstrated interest in the investment industry
  • Baseline knowledge of Fixed Income investment concepts and interest to expand knowledge base
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts and technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize activities, and take initiative within area of responsibility
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with CRM and Bloomberg as a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency with enterprise AI tools, or a strong willingness to creatively apply AI to drive productivity and efficiency
  • Knowledge of and interest in using Tableau, Python, and SQL
  • CFA designation or established interest in obtaining the CFA designation.

Requirements:
  • Dodge & Cox has a 4/1 hybrid work model, and all Dodge & Cox employees are required to be in their assigned office as noted in the job posting Monday - Thursday each week, with the option to work remotely on Friday.

The salary range for this position is $100k - $145k.
The listed pay scale denotes only the pay range of the base salary and does not include discretionary bonus compensation, which may make up an important portion of the total remuneration. Dodge & Cox encourages applicants to consider the value of the many competitive benefits it offers, including coverage of 100% of all healthcare premiums for employees and their families and fully funding a retirement plan at 25% of the total compensation to the IRS limit.
