Overview

We are seeking a US Municipal Credit Research Analyst to join our Global Fixed Income Research team, supporting our municipal bond portfolio management teams. The analyst will conduct fundamental credit analysis of municipal issuers across various sectors, including state and local governments, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. Responsibilities include:

    Evaluating financial health, budgetary performance, and debt profiles of issuers.
  • Assessing policy, legal, and regulatory frameworks that impact creditworthiness.
  • Analyzing economic and demographic trends relevant to municipal credit.
  • Monitoring market developments and identifying relative value opportunities.
  • Providing investment recommendations and credit opinions to portfolio managers.

Collaborating with other research analysts and contributing to team-wide initiatives.

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 4 days per week.

Location(s): Milwaukee, WI

Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough fundamental issuer credit analysis, including financial statement analysis, evaluation of financial policy, quality of management, management strategy, competitive position, etc.
  • Assess broad industry trends such as shifts in competition, regulation, and general market dynamics with a view towards investment implications.
  • Produce written research to support fundamental and relative value recommendations and effectively communicate to traders and portfolio managers.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and quarterly research meetings, as well as an array of other meetings relevant to the investment process.
  • Work with portfolio managers and other research analysts on ad hoc projects as appropriate.
  • Represent Allspring Global Investment's research capabilities at client and/or consultant meetings.
  • Attend company and industry presentations; liaise with sell-side contacts and build relationships with other market participants such as rating agency analysts.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • The candidate will be degree qualified.
  • CFA designation or progress towards attaining the CFA designation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time
  • Operate computer programs and software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences in person and in electronic formats
  • Day-to-day contact with others (co-workers and/or public)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative business environment in close quarters with peers and varying interruptions

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least (5-7 years) relevant industry experience in credit or equity research.
  • Experience in the financial sector a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in performing financial statement analysis and assessing industry trends.
  • Effectively communicate credit recommendations and trading ideas (via verbal and written material).
  • Ability to exercise judgement in time management and prioritization of work.
  • Bloomberg and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) experience.
  • Capability to work independently and is self-motivated.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $140,000 - $160,000

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary bonus programs, or other annual or non-annual incentive or sales plans.)
