What You'll DoFinancial Leadership & Accounting Excellence

You'll ensure accounting processes align with industry standards and generally accepted accounting principles while providing meaningful financial analysis and reporting to leadership. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing general ledger activity, journal entries, allocations, and month-end close processes
  • Performing budget-to-actual variance analysis
  • Overseeing labor load allocations and franchise tax reviews
  • Preparing annual budgets and supporting monthly financial reporting
  • Driving process improvements and operational efficiencies throughout the department
Plant Accounting & Capital Asset Management

You'll serve as a critical link between Finance, Engineering, and Operations to ensure capital investments are accurately tracked and reported.

  • Maintain distribution plant records utilizing PowerPlan
  • Review and analyze work orders and capital expenditures
  • Coordinate construction work plan budgeting and reporting
  • Ensure project and asset accounting accuracy
  • Support forecasting and capital deployment reporting efforts 
Fixed Asset & Regulatory Reporting

You'll oversee fixed asset accounting and ensure compliance with reporting and tax requirements.

  • Manage depreciation and general plant records
  • Track asset additions, retirements, and disposals
  • Review annual property tax filings
  • Support external audits and board reporting requirements
  • Prepare capital expenditure and financial reports for senior leadership
Lead and Develop Your Team

As a people leader, you'll play a vital role in coaching, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals.

  • Manage departmental workload and priorities
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of policies and practices

Minimum Requirements: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Minimum 10 years’ experience in general and/or utility accounting

Demonstrate strong fundamentals of general accounting.

Ability to identify risks or process gaps, resolve issues proactively, and ensure timely completion of departmental responsibilities.

Experience with extracting data from software systems into spreadsheets.

Previous supervisory experience.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

CPA or CMA

Experience with PowerPlan or similar fixed asset system

Previous utility industry experience in accounting or cost accounting.

Familiarity construction assembly codes, material reporting requirements, FERC or RUS work order procedures, and industry practices
