The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:
Position: Plumber
Job Description: The Fall River School Department seeks a licensed plumber with District-wide duties and responsibilities related to safe, efficient and cost-effective maintenance and repair of the systems (general plumbing, hot water, etc.) in all school system buildings in the city of Fall River.
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Installs and repairs water pipes and makes necessary connections;
  • Implement protocols related to operation, routine and preventative maintenance, and records keeping
  • Maintains plumbing systems; repairs and replaces defective and leaky water and drain pipes;
  • Monitor routine and preventative maintenance of valves, faucets, sinks, and water fountains, in accordance with all established protocols, as required.
  • Maintains plumbing systems; repairs and replaces tanks and fixtures
  • Replaces gaskets, washers;
  • opens clogged drains; attaches pipe assemblies to walls
  • assembles, bolts or solders valves, couplings, pipe sections and other parts;
  • connects plumbing fixtures, outlets, and seals connections
  • Installing valves, traps, fittings, connections, fixtures and equipment
  • Installing and repairing water pipes and making necessary connections
  • Attaching pipe assemblies
  • Performs manual duties related to plumbing work
  • Monitor timely, accurate and complete documentation of all operational, and routine and preventative maintenance records by custodial staff in work order software
  • Respond to calls requesting service related to plumbing
  • Develop and control working inventory of all parts and supplies necessary to maintain plumbing systems in good working order
  • Coordinate and oversee services provided by outside contractors
  • Maintain timely, accurate and complete record of both internally and externally provided services (nature, time, travel, materials) as required

Required Qualifications:
  1. Candidates must have extensive experience in the following areas:
  • Operation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, in an industrial or institutional environment
  • Pipe soldering
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve plumbing related problems
  • Ability to work from verbal or written instructions, prints and schematics
  1. Must have a valid Master Plumbers license
  2. Candidates must possess a current and valid state-issued driver's operating license
  3. Selected candidate must successfully complete a physical examination, chemical screening and criminal background screening. All expenses related to these screening processes shall be borne by the Fall River Public Schools.

The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.
