River Grove School is seeking a certified teacher or qualified substitute to fill a long term leave during the 2026-2027 school year. Middle School endorsement preferred, but not required for the right candidate.
Role qualifications:
Must hold a current Illinois Substitute Teaching License (SUB) and/or Professional Educator License (PEL)
Position responsibilities:
Instructs assigned classes using the district curriculum, as provided
Assesses the learning of students regularly and provides progress reports as required
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
Attends staff meetings
Performs any other related duties as requested by building administration
Adheres to the published policies and procedures of the District
Essential skills and experience:
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to students' developmental levels and interests.
Prepares for classes assigned
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these goals and objectives to students and parents.
Utilizes best practices with an emphasis on student engagement and cooperative learning techniques to enhance instruction.
Provides instruction that supports the District's philosophy of education.

The long-term substitute rate for coverage of a leave of absence is $160 per day for the first 20 days. Beginning on the 21st day the rate is $316.67 for the remainder of the leave of absence.
