Position: Weld Fitter

Schedule: Day Shift (Monday- Friday 6a-4:45p + Saturday 6a-12p)

Summary of Position

Under the supervision of the department supervisor, Weld Fitters are responsible for laying out, fitting, and assembling metal components in preparation for welding, ensuring all parts meet blueprint specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. This role interprets engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication requirements to position, align, and secure parts using clamps, fixtures, and tack welds. The Weld Fitter works closely with welders and fabricators to ensure accurate fit‑up, performs quality checks, and maintains a safe, organized work environment. Strong blueprint reading, measurement accuracy, and metal‑fabrication skills are essential.

Essential Functions

Daily roles include collaborating in a team-oriented environment with cross functional workers.

  • Analyze and interpret blueprints to determine the specifications, tolerances, and locate/read the stock list on a drawing
  • Prep, layout, fit, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications
  • Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or horizontal positions
  • Fabricate and assemble metal components using various welding techniques
  • Perform precision fitting and adjustments to ensure proper assembly
  • Maintain the proper tooling to complete tasks
  • Construct structural components from raw materials
  • Ability to saw, miter, and fit fabrications
  • Replace damaged or defective structural components as needed
  • Certified in TIG and MIG welding
  • Follow OSHA safety guidelines, and ITAR compliance
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Use of straightedge, combination square, and calipers.
  • Use of shears, power saws, cutting torches, and chipper knives to cut structural components
  • Ability to concentrate for extended periods
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proven experience working as a weld fitter
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
