What is a fitness blog?

A fitness blog is an online platform where individuals or organizations share information, tips, and personal experiences related to health, exercise, nutrition, and overall wellness. These blogs often provide workout routines, healthy recipes, motivation, and expert advice to help readers achieve their fitness goals. Fitness blogs can be written by professional trainers, nutritionists, or fitness enthusiasts, and they often foster a community of readers who share similar interests. Many fitness blogs also feature product reviews, interviews, and success stories to inspire and inform their audience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fitness blogger, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fitness Blogger, you need a solid understanding of exercise science, nutrition, and content creation, often supported by experience in fitness training or relevant certifications. Familiarity with blogging platforms such as WordPress, SEO tools like Google Analytics, and social media management systems is crucial. Creativity, strong communication, and the ability to engage and motivate an online audience are standout soft skills. These skills and qualities are essential for building credibility, growing a loyal readership, and delivering valuable, trustworthy fitness information.

What are some common challenges faced by writers in a fitness blog role, and how can they overcome them?

Writers in a fitness blog role often face challenges such as staying up-to-date with the latest research, creating engaging and accurate content for diverse audiences, and balancing SEO requirements with authentic storytelling. To overcome these challenges, it's important to regularly review reputable fitness and health sources, collaborate with fitness professionals for expert insights, and participate in editorial meetings to align content with the blog's goals. Additionally, engaging with readers through comments or social media can help writers tailor content to audience interests and build a loyal community.

What is the difference between Fitness Blog vs Personal Trainer?

How to become a fitness blogger?

To become a fitness blogger, create a niche focus within fitness, develop high-quality content such as articles, videos, or photos, and build an online presence through social media and a dedicated website. Consistent posting, engaging with followers, and understanding basic photography, editing, and SEO skills are essential. Job description

BODi is on a mission to build the Health Esteem Category! Having just launched a new brand (from Beachbody to BODi), a new platform, and a new app where fitness and nutrition is supported by positive mindset content, BODi breaks from the fitness and diet industry and ushers in the era of Health Esteem. Health Esteem specifically rejects the legacy fitness and diet industry playbook of pursuing a healthy lifestyle based on self-criticism - a playbook Beachbody used to abide by. But after observing the uptick in mental health challenges since the pandemic and seeing that 74% of Americans remain overweight or obese today, despite the efforts of the fitness industry, BODi had to make a change.

BODi is a proactive wellness company delivering nutrition, supplements and proven fitness programs that help people take control of their health inside and out. With nearly three decades of experience, BODi, formerly Beachbody, has evolved from a leader in home fitness into a comprehensive health and fitness ecosystem designed to help people achieve their goals and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Anchored by science-backed nutrition solutions like Shakeology and supported by its portfolio of proven fitness and habit-building programs, including P90X and INSANITY, BODi is creating a more accessible and effective path to long-term health.
Since its inception, BODi has supported more than 30 million customers in achieving lasting results. The company continues to innovate across nutrition and digital fitness to deliver simple, proven solutions for modern lifestyles.

We're looking for a highly experienced Senior Director of Copywriting who has strong expertise in direct-to-consumer copywriting for sales conversion, email, landing pages, performance marketing assets, etc. Powerful command of sales copywriting is your super power.

This role will own copy across our full brand portfolio and key channels, raising the creative standard while capturing attention, educating while persuading, creating urgency, and building a strong relationship with the customer. You will help shape verbal identity across the BODi health and fitness ecosystem including Shakeology, P90X, INSANITY, over 140 fitness programs plus emerging nutritional supplements, while also managing a small team of writers and contributors.

What You'll Do

Lead Copy Across the Portfolio

  • Lead copy development across the full BODi portfolio and all major consumer touchpoints, with responsibility for both creative quality and conversion performance.

  • Drive copy development across email, CRM, paid media, landing pages, product launch campaigns, PDPs, web, packaging, video, blog/editorial, and additional brand and marketing needs.

  • Elevate the standard of writing across the organization so the work is sharper, more persuasive, more emotionally resonant, and more effective at driving action.

  • Bring powerful direct-to-consumer instincts to every channel, making sure the work does not just communicate, but sells.

Support Verbal Identity Development

  • Partner with senior creative leadership to help define, refine, and steward the verbal identity of BODi and its sub-brands.

  • Help build verbal systems and guidelines for Shakeology, P90X, INSANITY, emerging supplements, and the broader BODi ecosystem.

  • Ensure each brand has a clear, distinctive voice while maintaining consistency across the portfolio.

  • Develop messaging that captures attention, educates while persuading, builds trust with the customer, and supports conversion.

Drive Copy That Converts

  • Be an expert in direct-to-consumer sales copywriting, with strong experience writing copy that converts across email, landing pages, performance marketing assets, and key digital touchpoints.

  • Bring strong selling instinct to the work, with a solid understanding of how to write copy that persuades, creates desire, and moves people to act.

  • Write sharp, effective hooks that stop attention immediately and pull the customer into the message.

  • Know how to identify the emotional pressure point fast and turn it into copy that sells.

  • Push the work toward stronger persuasion, clearer value communication, greater urgency, and better conversion performance.

  • Balance brand-building with business goals, while keeping a clear focus on copy that performs.

  • Work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing clarity, quality, or impact.

Lead Content and Editorial

  • Lead the content arm of the creative department, including blog and editorial copy, in close partnership with growth, tech, and SEO teams.

  • Ensure content is strategically aligned to brand and business goals, not operating as a disconnected stream.

  • Bring more consistency, rigor, and creative leadership to how content is developed, written, and produced.

  • Ensure content supports the broader customer journey and contributes to engagement, education, and conversion.

Manage and Develop

  • Manage a small team of writers and contributors across full-time and contract support.

  • Operate as a player-coach who can lead the function while staying close enough to the work to write, concept, edit, and shape key deliverables personally.

  • Coach writers toward stronger conceptual thinking, sharper execution, better hooks, and stronger conversion instincts.

  • Partner closely with growth/performance marketing, lifecycle/CRM, brand marketing, creative, legal/regulatory, executive leadership, merchandising, and media.

  • Help build a copy function that moves fast, thinks strategically, and consistently produces high-performing work.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong expertise in direct-to-consumer sales copywriting. You know how to write hooks, sharpen offers, build urgency, communicate value clearly, and create copy that drives people to act.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.

  • 10+ years overall experience with 5-7+ years of copy leadership experience across brand and performance marketing, ideally in a DTC environment.

  • Proven experience writing and directing high-converting copy across email, landing pages, performance marketing assets, product campaigns, and other key sales-driving channels.

  • Experience developing voice and tone systems, messaging frameworks, and verbal guidelines across a portfolio or multi-brand environment.

  • A player-coach mindset. You can lead the function, but you are also willing to jump in and write, edit, concept, and shape high-priority work yourself.

  • Experience managing writers, freelancers, and cross-functional content contributors.

  • Strong creative judgment and a very high bar for clarity, persuasion, speed, and craft.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and bring sharp thinking to brand, business, legal, and executive stakeholders.
