Medical Assistant/Patient Support Associate - Employee Health Services

The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Associate provides clinical and administrative support to ensure high-quality, efficient care for Endeavor Health team members. This role includes assisting with pre-employment and annual health screenings, vaccinations, medical surveillance, and injury triage as well as greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and rooming team members. The MA/PSA collaborates with Employee Health clinicians and administrative staff to promote team member wellness, occupational health compliance, and workplace safety.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: MA/PSA, Employee Health

  • Location: Glenbrook Hospital (Glenview, IL)

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time (40 hours)

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

  • Required Travel: Float as needed to Evanston, Skokie, Highland Park, and Swedish Hospitals

What you will do:

  • Performs basic clinical evaluations (e.g vital signs, symptom screening, pain assessment, range of motion, mobility checks).

  • Provides annual respirator fit testing (and related recordkeeping) for team members flagged as participating in the Respiratory Protection Program.

  • Conducts hands-on training for team members being fit-tested on how to properly don and doff their respirator.

  • Conducts training on the use of a PAPR when a team member is unable to successfully pass a tight-fitting respirator fit-test.

  • Performs urine drug testing or breath alcohol testing, as needed.

  • Phlebotomy and injections may be required.

  • Provides front desk support to the clinic. Answers the telephone, directs calls as appropriate, and greets team members in a courteous professional manner.

  • Checks voice messages, monitors department email box, Service Now work queue, and returns calls/emails/voicemails in a timely manner.

  • Generates compliance reports for Respirator Fit Testing, annual TB surveillance, and vaccine compliance. Reaches out to non-compliant team members and managers, when needed.

  • Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records. Documents all medical activity accurately and timely within the electronic management system (Team Member Health) in accordance with internal policies and state regulations.

  • Maintains continuous Joint Commission readiness. Complies with HIPAA regulations. Identifies and supports patient safety and infection control protocols.

What you will need:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent work experience, required

  • Certification:

    • Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred but not required.

    • Certified in Urine Drug Screening, Breath Alcohol Testing, and Hair Drug Screening procedures (at time of hire or within 3 months of hire).

    • Phlebotomy skills (at time of hire or within 3 months of hire).

  • Experience: One year of work experience required, previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred. On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience.

  • Unique or Preferred Skills:

    • Knowledge and experience documenting patient care in an electronic medical record.

    • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.

    • Flexibility and transportation necessary to travel between various sites throughout Endeavor Health.

    • Models confidentiality and professional discretion in all communication and exchanges of information.
