Senior Project Manager – Transportation

Lead Transportation Design amp; Client Growth with Fishbeck
Are you an experienced transportation leader with a passion for managing complex projects, developing client relationships, and mentoring high-performing teams? Fishbeck is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Transportation to support and grow our design practice in Southeast Michigan and collaborate across our regional offices in Indiana, Ohio, and Texas.

In this senior-level role, you’ll lead project execution, drive business development efforts, mentor staff, and strengthen key client partnerships while contributing to Fishbeck’s reputation for quality, reliability, and innovation.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping transportation projects and the future growth of our practice.
What You’ll Work On
Technical Leadership
  • Lead and grow Fishbeck’s transportation design practice, including recruiting in partnership with team leaders
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to technical staff
  • Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews on project deliverables
  • Oversee project execution and ensure technical excellence across transportation design work
  • Collaborate with project managers and team leads to manage workload and staff development
Project Management amp; Execution
  • Manage and lead transportation design contracts with DOTs, counties, municipalities, and private clients
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery
  • Support cross-office collaboration on transportation projects across multiple states
  • Travel to project sites and client locations as needed
Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new transportation design opportunities
  • Lead pursuits, develop proposals, and prepare fee estimates
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships across public and private sectors
  • Develop strategic partnerships and alliances within the industry
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support client development and cross-marketing efforts
Leadership amp; Strategy
  • Contribute to Fishbeck’s long-term business goals and growth strategy
  • Support transportation division initiatives and overall firm objectives
  • Help strengthen Fishbeck’s presence and reputation in Southeast Michigan
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 20+ years of experience in transportation design, with DOT and/or local agency projects
  • Proven experience managing large DOT contracts
  • Strong background in transportation design software and modeling tools
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring staff and managing teams
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Ability to travel to project and client sites as needed
