Job description

Provide world class manufacturing and quality engineering technical support to the manufacturing areas and product launch activities that meet or exceed customer expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and implement improvements with manufacturing teams that reduce product cost, improve quality and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the maximum safety, quality, capability and utilization of manufacturing/processing equipment and processes.
  • Continuously research and implement "Best Practice" manufacturing and processing methods.
  • Lead new product introductions and current product modifications to the manufacturing floor.
  • Review and quote processing and production equipment and tools.
  • Ensure that effective documentation and control systems are developed, utilized, and maintained.
  • Lead the manufacturing team to define, justify, and coordinate the purchase and implementation of new equipment and processes; perform capacity analysis, track tooling and AR expenditures.
  • Assist and/or lead specific elements in the APQP/NPDP process, including selections of special characteristics for product and build processes.
  • Lead in the design and build of manufacturing/assembly/processing equipment and processes.
  • Resolve and prevent issues through robust problem-solving methodologies (8D's, 5 Why's, A3s, etc.).
  • Coordinate or perform as needed, process diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, calibrations, and operating procedures.
  • Coordinate and perform special studies, DOE's and capacity/capability analysis.
  • Review and disposition on non-conforming materials. Represent BorgWarner on related issues.
  • Prepare and make presentations to customers, employees, and all levels of the management team.
  • Manage customer portals for assigned activities i.e. corrective actions, capacity reports, warranty management, SCR's, etc.
  • Lead fast response meeting for Customer complaints and corrective action follow up to on-time completion.
  • Coordinate and manage outside contract projects.
  • Coordinate and manage specialized processes such as heat treating, welding, soldering, etc.
  • Lead and utilize a teamwork approach to achieve departmental objectives (safety, scrap, FTT, others).
  • Provide technical leadership, training, and support to manufacturing teams as well as to peers.
  • Use of required PPE; following safety rules and procedures and training others; compliance with plant code of conduct.
  • Attendance and participation at safety and health training sessions.
  • Lead and promote the 5S Standards.
  • Lead and promote by example BW Beliefs.
  • Define and get customer approval on FG packing.
  • Perform other activities as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related technical field from a four-year college or university.
  • 1 - 3 years Engineering experience (May include relevant co-op experience)
