Job description

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt position that reports to the Assistant Director of Fiscal Services and is located at the JWCC campus in Quincy, Illinois. Position begins immediately.

JOB DESCRIPTION

John Wood Community College is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Fiscal Services Specialist to support our finance operations. This role plays an important part in ensuring accurate financial processing while providing excellent service to students, staff, and external partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers, including assisting at the front window and answering calls
  • Receive, post, and process student payments
  • Post cash receipts and assist with balancing financial records
  • Maintain and update the prepay spreadsheet
  • Assist with accounts payable and payroll documentation, including filing and document management
  • Set up new vendors and collect/update W9 information
  • Collect ACH information from vendors
  • Contact vendors and employees regarding outstanding checks
  • Assist with preparing and processing cash bags for student and athletic events
  • Assist with projects throughout the year and provide general support to all areas of Fiscal Services

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred

Experience:

  • Experience with cash handling and balancing a cash drawer
  • Experience working with financial or accounting processes
  • Customer service experience in an office setting

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Ability to work accurately with numbers and financial data.
  • Ability to sort, count, and verify cash
  • Experience using a 10-key calculator

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position with a typical schedule of Monday-Thursday (8am โ€“ 5pm) and Friday (8am โ€“ 12pm).

SALARY

  • This is a non-exempt position with an approximate hourly rate of $18.13 - $19.00.
