Fiscal Associate information

What is a fiscal associate?

Fiscal Associates are professionals who handle a variety of financial and administrative tasks within organizations, such as processing invoices, managing budgets, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports. They often work closely with finance or accounting departments to ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and comply with organizational policies. Fiscal Associates may also assist with audits, grant management, and maintaining financial records. Their work is crucial for maintaining the financial health and integrity of an organization.

How does a fiscal associate typically interact with other departments within an organization?

A Fiscal Associate often collaborates closely with various departments such as human resources, procurement, and program management to ensure accurate financial processing and reporting. They may be responsible for verifying expenditures, processing invoices, and providing budget updates to department managers. Effective communication and organizational skills are essential, as Fiscal Associates must clarify financial procedures and ensure compliance with organizational policies. This cross-departmental work helps maintain transparency and supports smooth financial operations throughout the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a fiscal associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Fiscal Associate, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a background in accounting or finance, often supported by a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Expertise in financial management software such as QuickBooks, Excel, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is typically required. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills help you manage multiple financial tasks and collaborate across departments. These skills are crucial to ensure accurate financial records, compliance, and efficient support of organizational goals.

About University of Florida

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

The University of Florida is one of the top ranked public universities in the United States (ranked top 5 amongst public universities in 2023 US news and world report). It is one of only a few comprehensive universities, having medical, veterinary, dental, nursing, public health, and engineering disciplines all co-localized on the same, contiguous campus to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration. Gainesville is located in the northern region of Florida, within 1-1.5 hours of each coast, and just 1.5-2 hours to Orlando and Tampa. It is a small to medium-sized city with a low cost of living, excellent public and private schools, and southern hospitality. While Gainesville is widely recognized as the home of the Gators, it is quickly becoming known as a center for innovation and a place with a lifestyle that's comfortable for families, yet attractive for young professionals.
