This contract-to-hire role offers the opportunity to lead mechanical assembly operations in a fast-paced production environment focused on architectural aluminum systems for commercial and multifamily construction projects. You will assemble aluminum components and systems, prepare materials and production supplies for the morning shift, and provide hands-on leadership to a small team on second shift, with the potential to transition to first shift based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of mechanical assemblers on second shift, providing day-to-day guidance, direction, and support to ensure production goals are met.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of aluminum components and systems used in large-scale construction projects, following blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to assemble, fasten, and adjust parts and subassemblies.
  • Accurately read and interpret tape measurements and other dimensional specifications to ensure proper fit and alignment of components.
  • Prepare materials and production supplies for the morning shift, including staging parts, organizing tools, and ensuring workstations are ready for incoming teams.
  • Troubleshoot assembly issues and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Follow quality inspection procedures to verify that assembled products meet required standards and specifications.
  • Support and contribute to lean manufacturing practices by maintaining an organized, efficient, and clean work area.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate coachability, a positive attitude, and reliability by consistently meeting attendance, performance, and behavioral expectations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of experience as a mechanical assembler in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • 1–2 years of leadership experience overseeing a team of at least 4 people, preferably in a production setting.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, with 1+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure; successful completion of a tape measure test is required.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in mechanical assembly work.
  • Demonstrated reliability, including consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Positive attitude and strong coachability, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with aluminum or metal assembly and fabrication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot assembly issues and make on-the-spot adjustments to improve fit, function, or quality.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection processes and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in construction-related manufacturing environments.
  • Experience working on assembly lines or in general labor roles within production settings.

Why Work Here?

You will join a growing, startup-style manufacturing environment where your contributions are visible and valued, and there is genuine room to grow from within. The role is structured as a 90-day contract-to-hire, offering a clear pathway to long-term employment and eligibility for benefits such as health coverage and paid time off upon full-time conversion. The organization emphasizes internal advancement, hands-on learning, and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the operation continues to expand.
