Job description

About the Position
This position is designed to develop your technical skills through hands-on training and mentorship. You will work closely with experienced mechanics who will guide your development and ensure all work meets company and safety standards.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts

Shift options: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM or 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Occasional overtime during peak seasons (winter)


Responsibilities:

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on fleet vehicles

Conduct brake, safety, and emissions inspections to company and regulatory standards

Diagnose issues and assist with roadside breakdowns when needed

Inspect and repair wheelchair lifts, ramps, and safety restraint systems

Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and inventory

Ensure vehicles are properly fueled and stocked with necessary fluids

Assist with facility and property maintenance as needed

Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment (including WHMIS standards)

Support fleet readiness during inclement weather conditions

Follow direction and training from licensed mechanics to ensure all work meets required standards


Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a recognized apprenticeship program

Experience working with gasoline and diesel engines

Valid Class G driver's license

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to complete work orders and communicate with drivers, dispatch, and management

Basic computer skills
