Job description

Description
The Child Group Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a nurturing and stimulating educational environment for young children. This role involves planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The teacher will work closely with children, parents, and staff to ensure a supportive and effective learning experience.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. A minimum 12 units of Child Development or related classwork required.
  3. Two years of child-related experience or equivalent training with knowledge of child growth and development and nurturing guidance strategies preferred.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Physical, mental, and emotional health adequate to perform duties.
  2. Protect and honor individual integrity through confidentiality.
  3. Ability to work effectively with cultural/ ethnic diversity,
  4. Ability to work in a harmonious manager with subordinates, supervisors, and others.
  5. Interact effectively with infants, toddlers, and school age children.
  6. Ability to communicate in verbal and written form.
  7. Provide a safe and positive environment for children.
  8. Maintain confidential information of agency business, clients, and employees to legal standards and/or local regulations.
  9. Physical capability to lift over 20 pounds and engage in physical activity.
  10. Maintain current Medic First Aid certification and respond appropriately to medical incidents, ensuring the health and safety of clients and staff.

Responsibilities:
  1. Complete a developmental assessment (ASQ) on each child quarterly.
  2. Document children's progress and communicate with parent educators on child/parent related concerns and progress. Ensure a safe and clean environment for children.
  3. Plan and implement daily age-appropriate activities.
  4. Act as a role model for clients and children.
  5. Assist with data collection to meet program needs.
  6. Maintain current Medic First Aid certification and respond appropriately to medical incidents, ensuring the health and safety of clients and staff.
  7. Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
  8. Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
  9. Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques
  10. Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide.

Other:
  1. Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  2. Report any suspected child or dependent adult/elder abuse or neglect immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable.
  3. Report any client imminent danger to self or to others or gravely disabled immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable.
  4. Other duties as assigned.
