Job description

Job Summary

Forklift Operator I is responsible for the movement of raw, floor loaded corrugated materials/sheets from inventory to the production line.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates forklift safely and follows the forklift rules and policies established by the company
  • Completes pre-shift startup equipment checklist and reports any problems or concerns to a supervisor
  • Ensure raw materials and finished goods are organized and stacked safely prior to converting and loading onto trucks for delivery
  • Performs visual checks of finished goods; if product looks non-conforming, required to bring it to the attention of a supervisor
  • Accurately reads job tickets and knows where the units for each order are located
  • Cuts the straps and preps the units for the robotic feeder
  • Loads the production line with correct sheets for the order that is running
  • Ensures that loads/units are squared and neat so they can be fed seamlessly by the robotic feeder
  • Keeps all strapping, scrap, and trash clear of conveyor lines and floor area
  • Properly discard straps and trash in appropriate bins
  • Assists the operator and first pressman in keeping the production area clean and monitoring the robotic feeder
  • Assists the operator and first pressman with end-of-shift clean up, machine jam ups, and other issues during production
  • Performs other duties as required, including but not limited to restacking raw material, regluing boxes, and preventative cleaning.

Qualifications

  • Forklift driving experience is required
  • Prior experience in the corrugated industry and moving floor loaded materials is preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic math
  • Able to read and follow instructions on job tickets
  • Successfully complete the Company's forklift certification program and follow safety policies
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum 9th grade basic education, high school diploma or GED preferred but not required
