St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent's is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system's second-largest hospital.
Job Summary
Performs routine assigned tasks in designated area(s) to; Receive and stage clean linen, pack and distribute clean linen utilizing laundry equipment, Collect and stage soiled linen utilizing laundry equipment, and meet production and quality standards of the linen distribution department in a safe and efficient manner.
• Transport bulk clean linen to appropriate area. Stock linen exchange carts and short order carts to supply the facility with clean linen as required. Deliver carts and clean linen throughout the facility. Report any deficiencies to Unit Leader.
• Wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), remove soiled linen from soiled utility rooms, chutes, and stage in appropriate area for pick up by laundry company. Report any deficiencies to Unit Leader.
• Stock and distribute clean scrubs in appropriate areas of the facility as required. Report any deficiencies to Unit Leader.
• Keep laundry room clean and organized. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to your supervisor.
• Collect, launder, fold, hang, label and return resident laundry and caregiver uniforms if applicable at your facility. Serve as unit leader after being trained and assigned as such if applicable at your facility.
• Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Must be able to communicate effectively required
• High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Work Experience preferred
• Must be able to follow written instructions
• Ability to complete written communication with co-workers
• Able to answer phone calls and represent the department
• Maintain linen room to provide a clean and orderly department
• Basic Math skills
