Qualifications:
- Hold a bachelor's degree in Education
- Possess valid elementary teaching certification (ZO, ZG, ZC, ZE)Â or meet Michigan teaching permit requirements through enrollment in a teacher certification program leading to a Michigan elementary teaching certificate
- Knowledge of Michigan State Standards for First Grade
- Knowledge of evidence-based literacy and math instructional practices.
- Prior successful teaching experience (preferred)
Job Description:
- Provide direct instruction to first grade students in all subject areas
- Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials
- Integrate social-emotional learning into daily classroom practices.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior and student responsibility.
- Possess strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Monitor and assess students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports in order to advance student achievement
- Differentiate instruction based on student data, developmental levels, and individual learning needs.
- Maintain communication with students, parents, staff, and the community
- Participate in district professional development programs, as required
- Any other duties as assigned by the Principal, and/or designee
