Description
First Financial Bank has an immediate opening for a Mortgage Loan Assistant at the Mortgage Office located in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
The primary responsibility of this position is the complete processing of the loan and coordinating the closing with the loan officer, borrowers, title companies/attorneys, and insurance providers. As well as responsibilities of assisting in the post-closing shipping/purchasing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma plus two years of additional education or training from college or technical school; two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good understanding of financial institution products and services. Prior mortgage loan experience preferred. Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) are a plus.
COMPLEXITY: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, monthly payments, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in marketing/networking opportunities. Assist in discussing loan details with borrowers; including but not limited to rate quotes, estimates, and explaining the loan process in general terms. Assist in the prequalification of potential borrowers. Interaction with Realtors and other referral sources as needed. Interaction with any third parties as needed, like Title Companies and Insurance Agents. Analyze loan applications received and help in determination of qualification and potential red flags and determine what possible documents will be required for the loan file. Check and input of important information into Encompass LOS. Submitting loans through various automated underwriting systems. Obtain quotes in order to prepare early disclosures in an efficient and timely manner according to compliance regulations. Order credit reports, appraisal requests, title commitments, termite clearance letters, and surveys as needed. Assist in the collection of required documents with loan officers, borrowers, and third parties. Process the loan file in accordance with investor, agency, and First Financial Bank guidelines. Prepare the loan package for underwriting, and to clear any stipulations made as part of the loan approval process. Performs a variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures. Some administrative duties could also be required. Answer the phone and greet incoming customers as necessary.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess excellent organizational skills and be able to work under strict deadlines. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and be a self-starter. Must be proficient in computer applications, typewriters, calculators, fax machines, and copy machines. Good telephone and people skills a must. Language interpretation (Spanish/English) a plus.
