Job description

Senior Software Engineer, Backend / Full Stack
Cytronic | Concord, CA | Hybrid
Cytronic is building the software and robot-powered operations behind modern fulfillment, warehousing, and logistics. We help e-commerce brands manage inventory, process orders, and deliver with greater speed and accuracy.
We are hiring our second full-time software engineer. You will join the CTO and our first engineer to build and scale the systems powering order management, warehouse operations, fulfillment, and customer-facing workflows.
This is a backend-leaning full-stack role with significant ownership. You will work primarily in Python and Django while contributing across the product, infrastructure, and frontend when needed to deliver complete solutions.
What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs using Python and Django.
  • Own features from problem definition through database design, implementation, deployment, and production monitoring.
  • Build software supporting fulfillment, inventory, order management, and warehouse operations.
  • Work directly with operations and business teams to turn real-world workflow challenges into scalable software.
  • Partner with the CTO and first engineer on architecture, technical priorities, and product delivery.
  • Improve the reliability, security, performance, and observability of production systems on AWS.
  • Contribute to frontend applications and internal tools when needed to deliver a strong end-to-end experience.
  • Help establish practical engineering standards for testing, code review, documentation, CI/CD, and incident response.
  • Shape Cytronic's engineering culture and contribute to future technical hiring as the team grows.
What We're Looking For
  • Five or more years of professional software-engineering experience, or equivalent evidence of senior-level ownership.
  • Strong production experience with Python and Django.
  • Experience designing APIs, relational data models, and maintainable backend systems.
  • Experience deploying and operating production services on AWS.
  • The ability to work across the stack and independently deliver complete features.
  • Sound judgment when balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Comfort turning ambiguous business or operational needs into clear technical plans.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and nontechnical teammates.
  • Interest in working closely with warehouse operations and physical systems.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in logistics, fulfillment, warehousing, supply chain, or third-party logistics.
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, or another modern frontend framework.
  • Experience with event-driven systems, distributed systems, integrations, or real-time data.
  • Familiarity with warehouse-management, order-management, carrier, or e-commerce platforms.
  • Interest in robotics, AI, physical systems, or operational automation.
Why Join Cytronic
  • Join early and have meaningful influence over architecture, product direction, and engineering practices.
  • Own production systems that directly affect customers and physical operations.
  • Work closely with decision-makers, users, and warehouse teams.
  • Solve challenging problems at the intersection of software, logistics, automation, and robotics.
  • Help shape the engineering team as Cytronic grows.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid role based in the Concord, California area. Regular in-person collaboration is important because our software is closely connected to warehouse operations, robotics, and physical workflows. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the interview process.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary: Competitive Base Salary plus equity and full benefits
