Position:
  First Cook - Class III (3 positions available)
Location:
  Kennedy High School, Valley View Middle School, Olson Middle School
Effective Date:
   ASAP
Hours:
   6 hours per day (7:30am - 1:30pm approximate)
   5 days per week
   10 months
Salary:
   Class III ranging from $ 22.49- $ 25.30 per hour
   *Wage placement based on previous experience
Essential Functions:
















  • Lifting up to 38 pounds
  • Lifting and twisting to accommodate moving food pans and dish racks in the dish room area
  • Repetitive motion often required
  • Able to work on feet up to 3 hours
  • Working in a noisy environment
  • Be visually alert to student conduct and potential hazards

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in management of food service staff including:
    • Works collaboratively with the manager/Food Service Director on all aspects of preparation, service, sanitation, recording of meals including written documentation of food items used/temperatures and clean up
    • Understands MN Food Code and USDA Guidelines for School Nutrition
    • Consistently adheres to District rules and policies
    • Competently performs food prep and cooking with all equipment in the kitchen including kettles, steamers, mixers, ovens and choppers
    • Ability to prep/cook all foods for school and ship-out sites
    • Ability to follow recipes and procedures
    • Ability to supervise others assigned in this area
    • Requires ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
    • Ability to estimate and calculate food servings to provide same service to all students
    • Assist in inventory management
    • Accurately and competently executes computer functions involving point of sale, cash handling and computer programs
    • Consistently works well with others displaying honesty, courtesy, compassion and helpfulness
    • Exhibits behavior which is not detrimental to the team, program or district at work and in the public
    • Maintains dependable attendance
    • Respectfully follows directives of supervisors
    • Maintains good communication to facilitate seamless service
    • Actively participates in contributing towards program improvements
    • Promotes participation through customer service delivery that is welcoming, encouraging and supportive
