Location: Guardian Angels By The Lake - Elk River, MN
Salary Range: $19.24 - $21.58 / Hour (Based on Experience)

Position Summary:
The Prep Cook is responsible for providing means and maintaining standards of kitchen cleanliness. The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing meals according to menus, meetings meal schedules and serving proper quality and quantity of food.
Schedule:
  • Schedule
    • 10am - 6pm - e/o Saturday and Sunday
  • Part Time position working 15 hours every 2 weeks.
  • Includes every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and holiday.
Job Duties:
  • Prepares all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner, under the direction of the Dietary Manager or 1st cook.
  • Ensures and assists with proper preparation, portioning and serving of food according to standardized recipes.
  • Prepares food in a timely manner at specified times.
  • Follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety and cleaning schedules.
  • Follows proper cleaning procedures and storage of all dishes, utensils and cooking equipment.
  • Insures all food in refrigerator, freezer and dry storage are labeled and dated.
  • Assist in checking and storing incoming food and supplies.
  • Coordinates work of Dietary Aides and volunteers to insure meals are timely and enjoyable.
  • Assists with moping kitchen floor and vacuums designated area. Properly disposes of refuse.
  • Assumes responsibility for kitchen operations and handles all situations in the kitchen according to policy, when Culinary Manager and 1st Cook are not available. This includes: ordering supplies, receiving and signing in the supplies, along with storing them.
  • Efficiently uses time to complete assigned work.
  • Follows procedures for closing down and locking up for the night.
  • To assist in providing a dignified, respectful, resident-centered environment for residents.
  • Follows universal precautions, facility infection control guidelines, sanitation and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • One to two years quantity cooking experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written (read, write) communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, ability to prioritize.
  • Maintains good attendance and punctuality.
