The Opportunity
The 3rd Shift Kitting Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse and production operations, including order assembly, receiving, inventory management, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role ensures smooth daily operations while driving continuous improvement and team performance. This role is located at the Flint, MI site.
How you will impact Packaging Solutions Smurfit Westrock company:
  • Lead and manage daily warehouse operations, including routing/dispatch, receiving, inventory control, forklift operations, and transportation coordination
  • Supervise, coach, and develop supervisors and team leaders to ensure effective execution of daily activities
  • Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including hiring, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions
  • Develop and maintain a strong safety culture by enforcing policies, monitoring compliance, and partnering with safety leadership to enhance practices
  • Establish and maintain quality standards and performance metrics to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor warehouse performance and provide regular reporting to leadership
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation, reporting, and data entry
  • Optimize warehouse space utilization and oversee proper storage and inventory rotation practices
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement equipment and process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Develop and manage the warehouse budget, including forecasting and cost control
  • Operate machinery and equipment as needed
  • Troubleshoot production equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance when required
  • Follow all established processes and operating procedures
  • Support team operations by stepping into production roles when necessary

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Industrial Management, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in warehouse leadership (team lead or supervisor)
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Production Supervisor
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory systems, and safety regulations
  • Basic computer proficiency required
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
