Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager partners with the General Manager to oversee the daily operations of the hotel while ensuring exceptional guest service, financial performance, and team engagement. This leader helps create an outstanding guest experience by supporting all hotel departments, developing associates, maintaining brand standards, and driving operational success.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading the daily operations of the hotel while maintaining exceptional guest satisfaction.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop associates to ensure outstanding service and operational excellence.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and retain talented team members.
  • Conduct brand-specific, operational, and safety training.
  • Assist with scheduling, staffing, labor management, and payroll oversight.
  • Support performance management through coaching, evaluations, recognition, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, brand standards, safety procedures, and operating guidelines.
  • Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally to create memorable guest experiences.
  • Maintain accurate operational, financial, and administrative records.
  • Assist with cash management, billing, reporting, and daily hotel operations.
  • Support local sales initiatives and marketing efforts to maximize occupancy and revenue.
  • Foster teamwork and maintain a positive, service-focused culture.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty and perform the responsibilities of the General Manager during their absence.
  • Support all hotel departments as business needs require.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • One (1) year or more of hotel leadership experience preferred, ideally in a Select Service or Extended Stay environment.
  • Previous Assistant General Manager, Operations Manager, or Front Office Manager experience preferred.
  • Marriott brand experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, scheduling, inventory management, ordering, and labor management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional guest service and developing successful teams.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
  • Associate degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
