Job description

Kamatics is seeking a detail-oriented First Article Technician to support the Quality Assurance team by preparing and maintaining inspection documentation and templates for manufactured parts and processes. This role is responsible for generating AS9102-compliant First Article Inspection (FAI) packages, reviewing engineering documentation, and supporting inspection processes to ensure compliance with customer and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, and able to work independently in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and “bubble” engineering drawings, specifications, and related documentation to support inspection requirements.
  • Interpret detail and assembly drawings to create accurate inspection templates and documentation.
  • Generate initial First Article Inspection (FAI) templates in compliance with AS9102 standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to resolve discrepancies or clarify issues within engineering documentation prior to work order release.
  • Support Quality Inspectors and internal teams in troubleshooting issues related to FAI software and documentation.
  • Maintain and organize inspection records and supporting documentation.
  • Navigate and utilize Net-Inspect for FAI creation, review, and submission.
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to inspection documentation and quality processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment; aerospace industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with First Article Inspection documentation or quality systems preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of AS9102 requirements.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including the ability to interpret detail and assembly drawings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with inspection tools and measurement equipment preferred.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and documentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Results-oriented, dependable, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
