Job description

We have an immediate opening for an Garage Door Installer Helper located in the Saskatoon branch. Reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Helper will work as part of a two-person crew, this position will assist in the service and/or installation of residential or commercial doors while learning on the job from the Garage Door Technician. This role is a permanent, full time position with opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional demeanor
  • Focus on quality workmanship
  • Championing safety standards
  • Providing superior customer service
  • Working with hand tools, electric tools and ladders
  • Regular interaction with warehouse staff, construction Project Managers, customers other trades and safety personnel
  • Taking direction from Garage Door Technician and providing support
  • Actively participating in learning the trade
  • General warehouse duties
  • Being on-call
  • Other duties, as assigned

Skills:

  • Possessing resourcefulness, integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment
  • Comfortable with heights (ladders & lifts)
  • Above average mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of overhead doors, sectional, rolling steel, high speed or specialty doors would be considered an asset
  • Intention to learn the trade and progress to Overhead Door Technician certification

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 - 6 monthsโ€™ experience in a relevant trade (i.e. construction, welding, millwright etc.)
  • Resourcefulness, integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment
  • Possess a valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract
  • Any relevant safety training and tickets is an asset. (WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to work outside in all different weather conditions, including cold and extreme heat. Lifting, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, lying down, squatting and kneeling and managing equipment and tools required
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment screening requirements including background check, drug, alcohol and health assessment
  • New hire candidates will be required to provide a current Driver's Abstract at their own cost
