Position Summary / Objective

The Facility Lead serves as the key technical subject matter expert and operational support lead for our Special Effects (SFX) facility. This role provides technical guidance, workflow direction, and support to warehouse technicians during show prep, equipment testing, staging, and facility maintenance. The Facility Lead ensures all SFX hardware, control systems, power systems, and facility assets are thoroughly inspected, organized, and prepped to the highest operational standard.

Role Responsibilities

The following duties represent the primary responsibilities of the role. This list is not exhaustive. The individual in this position will perform additional tasks as assigned, adhere to all provisions of the Employee Manual, and participate in company initiatives and projects.

Show Logistics & Warehouse Operations

  • Validate SFX show packages for completeness, system compatibility, and show-specific technical requirements.
  • Test, configure, clean, and prepare special effects equipment (CO2, flame, cryo, laser, cold spark, fog/haze, and related control systems) to ensure full operational readiness.
  • Identify damaged, incomplete, or malfunctioning gear, communicating issues promptly to management and assisting with basic troubleshooting or repairs.
  • Promote safe equipment handling, proper electrical/gas/fluid practices, and meticulous packing of SFX hardware and road cases.

Facility & Asset Management

  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and strict inventory readiness standards throughout the SFX facility.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining prep standards, equipment storage methods, labeling practices, and maintenance logs.
  • Assist with local vendor coordination or facility maintenance tasks as directed by the Facility Manager to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient facility environment.

Team Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Serve as the operational "2nd in command," providing daily workflow support and technical guidance to warehouse team members during prep, packing, and equipment returns.
  • Help train operations staff on standard operating procedures, safety practices, and equipment prep protocols.

Work Environment

This position operates in a dynamic setting that splits time between the main warehouse floor and a professional office space. The warehouse environment requires active collaboration with facility teams and involves regular exposure to variable weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. The office setting requires routine movement to access business machinery and interface with administrative personnel, providing a balanced workflow between hands-on operations and administrative oversight.

Physical Demands

The person in this role must be highly mobile, with the ability to frequently walk, bend, stoop, stand, and climb throughout the warehouse, as well as remain stationary for extended periods depending on daily tasks. The role also requires occasional movement within the office environment to utilize machinery and collaborate with facility team members. Candidates must be capable of frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and occasionally pushing or pulling up to 100 lbs.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

The typical work schedule for this position follows a standard workday, with occasional flexibility for evening and weekend work during high-volume periods. All breaks and lunches will comply with local, state, and federal laws, and overtime, if required, will be compensated in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.

Travel

This position requires travel, up to 25% of the time. Travel will be mixed, local and outside the local area and overnight.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $28 – $30 / hour.

The final salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate's skills, qualifications, education, and relevant professional experience.

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, which includes:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Retirement plan with employer contribution
  • Professional development opportunities

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in live event production, special effects (SFX), AV production, or production warehouse/facility operations.
  • Technical knowledge and hands-on experience with special effects equipment (e.g., flame units, CO2 jets, fog/haze machines, lasers, or electrical firing/control systems).
  • Ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical and basic control hardware quickly and accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail regarding prep accuracy and gear presentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with facility management, team members, and field crews.
  • High school diploma or GED.
