Chaparral is seeking adetail-oriented Firestop Estimator to join our team. This role is essential in preparing accurate cost estimates for a variety of small- and large-scale projects, leveraging specialized estimation software to analyze plan documents, materials, and labor requirements. As a Firestop Estimator, you will play a critical part in supporting our management team's efforts in planning, organizing, and scheduling work effectively.
Position Description
  • Prepare cost estimates for projects of varying scales, including small and large jobs.
  • Utilize specialized estimation software to analyze plan documents and develop accurate estimates.
  • Assess project plans, specifications, and other data to calculate time, cost, materials, and labor requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure estimates align with project planning, scheduling, and organization needs.
  • Calculate final cost figures, including adjustments for overhead and profit, and present comprehensive pricing proposals.
  • Assist with bid closeouts and final proposal preparations.
  • Contribute to the development of technical proposals as needed.
  • Work closely with Firestopping Technicians to account for installation requirements, including:
    • Installing firestop material at through and membrane firestop penetrations.
    • Installing firestop material at drywall, masonry, and curtain wall joint applications.

Position Requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions independently.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring precision in cost estimations.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills to understand client and project requirements.
  • Outstanding time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new estimation software and tools.
  • Familiarity with firestop materials and installation processes is preferred.
  • Prior experience in estimating or a related field is a plus.
